Ministry promotes access to funds for MSMEs in tourism sector
The Ministry of Industry and Commerce has introduced a handbook on ways that micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the tourism sector can access finances to ramp up their operations.
The Trade Promotion Department of the ministry, the Lao National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LNCCI), Plan International Laos and the European Union (EU) organised a meeting to disseminate information on how MSMEs can easily access funding.
The meeting was co-chaired by the head of the Trade Promotion Department, Mr Xaysomphet Norasingh, and a representative of the Board of Management of LNCCI, Mr Thiphaphone Phetmany.
The meeting was briefed about the findings of a study on access to funds for MSMEs, preparing documents for accessing such funds, and other requirements in this process.
MSMEs can access funds from various organisations, commercial banks and financial institutions. During the meeting, participants from the financial sector and entrepreneurs exchanged views on business units in the tourism sector accessing finances.
The public and private sectors are currently beefing up cooperation to promote the tourism industry, which has been seriously impacted by the fallout of the Covid-19 pandemic for almost three years.
