German marathon runner raises funds for Lao kindergarten
The Marathon Run for Fresh Drinking Water, held in Berlin, Germany, on October 10, saw the deputy chairwoman of the German-Lao Society (DLG e.V.), Mrs Larissa Quentin, make a special commitment to a kindergarten project in the small village of Tukluk in southern Laos.
“This is of great importance to me. For the needed drinking water facility in the kindergarten, I will give everything,” Mrs Quentin said before her marathon run.
In an appeal for donations, she drew the public’s attention to her campaign and called on potential donors to donate 42 Euros each to support the drinking water facility.
Larissa Quentin completed the full marathon distance (42.2 km) in 4 hours, 43 minutes and 33 seconds. Her enthusiasm and the recognition she received were commendable.
In total, members of the German-Lao Society together with other supporters donated more than 2,500 Euro, all of which will go to the kindergarten project.
“Our thanks go to Larissa for her great commitment and to all donors,” said Mr Gerd Schwarz, Chairman of DLG e.V. The fundraising campaign ended on October 10.
