Lao karatedo team to test skills at SEAKF Championship
Two Lao male and two female competitors will take part in the 9th Southeast Asia Karate Championship (SEAKF) to be hosted by Phnom Penh in Cambodia from March 21-27.
On Saturday, the Lao karate team, a trainer and two referees travelled to Phnom Penh, where the martial artists will put their skills to the test and do their best to pick up medals.
Cambodia, Thailand, Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar, Singapore, the Philippines, Malaysia, Brunei and Indonesia are taking part in the event.
When the team returns from Cambodia, the Lao Karatedo Federation will oversee their training before they go to Vietnam for more intensive training ahead of the 31st South-East Asia (SEA) Games to be held in Hanoi from May 12-23.
Four male and three female fighters from Laos will compete at the SEA Games in Vietnam.
In 2019, the Lao karatedo team won two bronze medals at the SEA Games held in the Philippines.
Lao fighters also plan to compete at the Asian Games in China in September and the National Games in Xieng Khuang province in December.
